... was incredible.

I composed a reactionary piece. Go check it out.

The Chemical Brothers concert...

I am pumped! If you're from the area and you haven't bought your tickets, GET'M NOW! The live Chems experience is something that no self-respecting person should miss. Youtube it. You'll see what I mean.

On a side note, I just released the instrumental version of Pandemic to my archive here. I still wasn't quite happy with the vocals and I got mixed reactions from other people, so I decided to offer a cut version.

I've been working on all kinds of different songs, one of which might be released soon. It's been a bit weird... I'll start a song, create it for a few days or a week, and then I'll start a new song out of the blue and it will sound better, so I'll abandon the old song... this has happened a few times already. Finally pulling myself out of the rut it seems! Hopefully.

Chemical Brothers in Brooklyn Saturday!

Posted by Gillenium - September 6th, 2007

Hey boys and girls.

I've been buuuuuuuuusy lately. Working for the college newspaper is a time consuming little venture! I have been working on a little bit of music though. I'm still pretty much in a state of music downtime, as I mentioned last time, but if I don't work on something, I feel awful.

Recently, I've left my Ableton Live projects alone and I've been fooling around in FL Studio again. It feels more comfortable and my computer can run it more easily. Ahhh, just like the good ol days. I've actually been thinking about doing some more comedy songs. I was recently reminded of the funny Ejay crap in my NG archive, and I found myself listening to them again and laughing my ass off. The only problem is, I'm not sure what to make a funny song about.... any ideas?

Underworld is performing live in San Francisco right now... that makes me feel good. My favorite band has begun its first tour in my country in 10 years. Speaking of concerts, The Chemical Brothers in Brooklyn in two weeks! YEEEEEAHHH!!

Beautiful Burnout

Hey boys and girls.

I have released my much-talked-about sequel to "Hazard" called "Pandemic." It explores the same themes as Hazard, but in a much more aggressive way. In fact, this is the first song in which I've ever cursed. Holy sh*t!

Some of you may have spotted the significance in the title. There was a popular flash game called Pandemic that used my song "Ants in Blue Gel" as the theme song to the end of the world. It brought a lot of fans my way, so I figured I'd return the favor with an homage. Pandemic also fits in with the lyrics. A perfect fit all around.

This is also my first song to use a song sample as an essential part of my own piece. Before you start reaching for the torches and pitchforks, the sample is only 1-second-long and was used with permission of Kevin Johnson or Bamsukka as you know him. The loops starts about midway through the song if you want to listen for it.

The song was zeroed probably 5 or 6 times immediately (and thanks to the brilliant new rating system, I can be zeroed every day by the same person! YAY!) so I hope you check it out and maybe help the score a little. If you're feeling extra-tenacious, you could leave a review, too.... I would be super-grateful.

As for news un-Pandemic-related, I'll be attending a Chemical Brothers concert in Brooklyn on September 22nd and I'm REALLY excited about it. REEEEALLY excited. If you have the financial means of seeing this concert, I very very highly recommend it. Hell, we could get a posse goin'! If you love electronic music and ridiculous bass, I want to see you there!

peace

Attack of "Pandemic"

Posted by Gillenium - July 19th, 2007

As I attempt to evolve with Newgrounds, I've decided to let you into my studio (figuratively) and let you know what I've been up to. And believe me, I'm always up to a LOT!

At the moment, most of my energy is centered on a "Hazard" sister-song. It is the first sister song I've ever done. It will be Trip Hop like Hazard was and it will continue with the same themes and I'm thinking about reintroducing *drumroll* the shitty mic!! Might, might not. We'll see what works best. No title for this one yet, but the lyrics are written out... most of them. As with "Hazard", I will be taking no prisoners. This song is also about a person I hate (the same one) and I'm going to lay the smack down.

..musically...

My other major project is a collaboration with Audio Portal regular Bamsukka, or Kevin Johnson. He has given me a juicey piece of guitar/ambient goodness, and I'm trying to figure out how to make it even tastier. It's starting to sound like it's going to be the calmest, slowest, and most ambient song I've ever done, not to mention my first guitar collab in... 2 years?

I have 8 or 9 other projects collecting dust, too, but they're not even skeletons yet. More info on them as they evolve. Thanks for keeping me motivated, NG fans.

Production update - 7-19-2007

Posted by Gillenium - July 19th, 2007

I posted earlier about how I wouldn't be submitting songs to NG again... ok ok, I was mad about the AP change because frankily... I hate change. It's gone relatively unchanged for over 3 years and it kind've sucked to have it change so drastically (with none of the good additions artists wanted). But, I'm going to give things another try. Some think it is silly that I would just pack up and leave, and I think I'm starting to agree with them. I'm tired.... goodnight, moon.
