Gillenium's News

Haven't visited this place in forever! Sorry to everyone for disappearing. I'm definitely not done with making music, although my output for this year has been practically nothing. This really hasn't happened since I started creating tunes around the turn of the millennium. I'm not sure if I should be concerned about that or not.

I don't produce good music when I'm not happy, and for the last year, I just haven't been happy. I lost my muse. She moved to Colorado and out of my life forever. But that's not a bad thing. I'm back on my feet, I've been involved in many more things, I have a great job... everything is turning my way.

If you've wondered what I've been doing for the last year, search YouTube for Nuke The Stars. That's me! I've actually created two "new" songs for that channel, including a remix of Nebula. And right now I'm working on the first truly fleshed-out new tune since last year. I don't want to say that I'm close to being back, because that's not the truth. I have a long way to go. But I'll get there.

In the meantime, I bet I have a lot of review responses to do here -.- Other than that, I probably won't visit this channel much. But hey, you're more than welcome to follow me as Nuke The Stars :) I check on that channel a LOT! And I reply to every message. See ya!

Hey everybody. I'm going to be a bit slow responding to reviews in the near future. My life has floated away from music right now. I've immersed myself in large projects, one of which has gotten more recognition than any of my music has ever gotten for me. I will never abandon my tunes, but for now, my midi controller will collect dust. But it's ok, because when I return, I will have grown not only as a person, but as an artist. Toodles :)

Back with a little tune! I'm not hitting music full-cylinders like I used to, but I did manage to get one ready for listening. I'm taking time off from a lot of things, music included, to get myself back together. I think I'll try to get back into the podcast soon as well... I've had a LONG hiatus from that.

Enjoy!

By the way, this is a picture that dates back to 8th grade. I still love it, though. I took the picture by myself... now you have to figure out how I did it!

New song - Mink Hollow Road

I've been in a huge creative slump lately, but something dawned on me today. I'm basically in the same situation I was in 5 years ago - I'm single, I'm back living at home, and completely lost. So this got me to thinking, "How did I make music back then?"

I listened to some of my old songs, and tried to channel some of that style into a piece I'm working on. The result was rejuvenating. It's the first time since November Butterfly (over a year ago) where I listened to what I made and went "Wow." It incorporates my current knowledge of sequencing with the moody peaks and valleys I was so fond of in 2003. Old Gill meets New Gill.

It might not put my train of creativity completely back on the tracks, but it's certainly a step in the right direction.

A Revelation

Happy Halloween, funsters. I feel like I'm falling back in time, falling behind on all my music/DJ/life stuff. But, I am starting a brand-new 5-part series that is shaping up well. Instead of taking 5 songs and stringing them together for Connection or Why Birds Sleep Well, I'm thinking about using the same basic melodies and displaying them in 5 different ways... this might work, and it might not. I'm still in the early stages of it. I have no title, but it's going to chart the last 5 years of my life (inspired by a girl I miss more and more every day). So instead of (Part 1) it will be the title and (Year 1).

I like to try new things. :)

I need to set my studio back up and get back to my DJ podcast... all in good time. The Incruit OSL Finals are happening soon as well, so I need to exercise my commentating muscles *stretches*

Blah! And more blah!

I'm working on a couple new tunes. For some reason, breaking up with Amy, it feels like I've broken up with music somewhat. I'm finding it tough to really get into it, listen to it, make it. I'm sure it will pass though. Music is one love that will never let me down.

I'm finishing the next podcast (finally)! So, be on the lookout - http://gillenium.podomatic.com/

Also, this is completely unrelated to music, but I've begun commentating on professional Starcraft matches. I've been following the pro scene for quite some time now, and now that I have a lot of time on my hands, I thought "what the hell!"
